Hey Frndsss…
Ganpati Bappa Morya...
It’s that time of the year in which cries and chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya will be heard across the city of Mumbai.
Mumbai has hundreds of temporary platforms or Pandals where massive Ganesh idols are placed for community worship & the most famous among them is Lalbaugcha Raja, the King of Lalbaug.
Lalbaug is a suburb in South Mumbai, and it has been hosting the Lalbaugcha Raja for 84 years now. The Pandal is a huge deal, bringing in people from all around the state, including film stars and other big personalities.
Things to know abt Lalbaugcha Raja:
Lalbaugcha Raja was founded in 1934 and is also considered ‘Navsacha Ganpati’, which means the fulfiller of all wishes.
We will be visiting the Lal Baug cha Raja this Wednesday, 30 August
Meeting Point: Ghatkopar
Time: 7:30 pm.
This year, the Ganesh idol is sculpted in Korma avatar, which is the second avatar of Lord Vishnu.
The Raja rests a tortoise throne at the backrest (prabhaval) designed by Nitin Desai, famous art director and production designer of Jodhaa Akbar and Devdas fame from Bollywood.
